DAY-BY-DAY ITINERARY

October 19:    US – Ireland

A deluxe motor coach will transport you from Milwaukee to O’Hare Airport. As we board our wide bodied jet we begin our over-night journey to Ireland.  Enjoy dinner & the movie on board. Sit back, relax and fall asleep. You will awaken to your first glimpse of Ireland’s forty shades of green.

October 20: Arrive Shannon

Cead Mile Failte!
One Hundred Thousand Welcomes!  Upon clearing customs, you will be met by your friendly Irish tour director and escorted to your deluxe motor coach.  We will then be taken to enjoy a visit to the amazing Cliffs of Moher, one of the most magnificent sites in County Clare.
We explore some of the six miles of dark, rough-hewn cliffs that plunge into the Atlantic from heights of up to 668ft.  From its vantage-point, we can see the Clare coastline, the Aran Islands, and mountains as far apart as Kerry and Connemara

Travel to Galway

Galway is famously known as the "City of the Tribes". Galway celebrated its 500th anniversary as a city in 1986. Originally a Gaelic settlement, it was quickly adopted by the Norman’s as their primary Western trading city. The Spanish and French sailed their galleons to Galway for hundreds of years trading their wines and brandies for metals and wool’s from Ireland. Galway still has a very obvious merchant town feel with the city center a warren of narrow lanes and paved street packed with interesting pubs and shops.

Overnight & Dinner Jury's Inn Galway

October 21: Galway

This morning after a full Irish breakfast we will venture around the Connemara region. Wrapped around the Twelve Pins and jutting out into the Atlantic, it is an area of wild, rocky bogland, of ragged coastline colored with the autumnal shades of seaweed, and pine trees on tiny pincushion islands mirrored in the loughs   .

We stop for a visit to Kylemore Abbey, a castellated neo-gothic mansion, occupied today by the Irish Benedictine community of nuns who came from Ypres after World War 1.

Breakfast, Dinner & Overnight Jurys Inn Galway

October 22: Galway / Dingle

Today’s touring begins after a scrumptious breakfast at your hotel.
We also say goodbye to Galway as we journey towards Dingle.

The day is yours at leisure for travel with your driver / guide at your disposal

Dinner, Overnight & Breakfast Dingle Benners Hotel

October 23: Dingle / Killarney

Our full day excursion will take us for a tour of the Dingle Peninsula, thrusting out into the Atlantic it claims Ireland’s most westerly point. Here majestic hills soar green and purple over vast bowls of unspoiled valleys, and glittering mountain streams which tumble down to lakes.  The peninsula is a Gaeltacht, and area where the Irish language is preserved and is home to some 2000 sites of prehistoric and early Christian remains.

Next, it’s on to the Blasket Center

The Great Blasket Island, located off the coast of Dunquin in County Kerry, is certainly a unique piece of Irish landscape.  But more importantly, its long-term physical isolation gave rise to a form of Irish civilization, which is equally unique. This Gaelic-speaking community on the island created a rich tradition of story telling that was originally designed to simply pass the time and to pass down the local folklore. These stories later became the basis of an incredible string of world-class books authored by several different islanders with virtually no formal education.  Certainly this is as impressive a literary accomplishment as there is in all of Irish cultural history, and maybe even in all of Europe! Sadly the Great Blasket was abandoned in 1953 as a result of the decline of its once vibrant population.

Dinner & Overnight Killarney Towers Hotel {Optional visit to Linehan's Bar}

October 24: Killarney

After breakfast, we travel to Blarney to visit the Blarney Castle! Blarney Castle,is one of Ireland's oldest and most historic castles, an ancient stronghold of the McCarthy's, and one of the strongest fortresses in Munster. We climb to the top of the battlement for the opportunity to kiss the famous Blarney Stone said to give the gift of eloquence for a kiss

Entrance to Muckross House
We enjoy a visit to Muckross House, a magnificent Victorian mansion
which is the centerpiece of the park. One of Ireland's leading stately
homes, these elegantly furnished rooms portray the lifestyle of the landed gentry,
whilst downstairs in the basement one can experience the working conditions
of the servants employed in the house.

Breakfast, Dinner & Overnight Killarney Towers Hotel {Optional visit to Linehan's Bar}

October 25: Killarney - Shannon - USA
Fortified after your full Irish breakfast, fulfilled and invigorated after your eventful
Emerald break – yes it is time to make your way to Shannon Airport for your return
 journey home.  Those with energy still in the tank, there will be ample time for
shopping in the extensive Duty Free Shops before boarding your flight. Bidding farewell is never easy
 but planning for the next trip back adds another new excitement to returning home.
